MLK Memorial and Fountain Offline August 11 through 15, 2025

The summer weather means there are some algae blooms in the MLK Memorial and Fountain, including the Crescent Pond. To address this in the most cost-effective and environmentally sustainable way, Conservancy engineers will need to shut the fountain down and do a partial cleanup. The major event this weekend, Pistahan, will not be impacted; we will begin the project on Monday, August 11.

We will empty the upper pond, vacuum the area, check the condition of bird abatement (replacing as needed), move the water from downstairs to up and then some light cleaning on Level 1. The project should be complete by Friday, August 15.
